Crystal Palace, antiques, shop Tweet Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 8:05AM Visiting these big events is not only about buying or being inspired by what's on offer, they are also fantastic people watching opportunities, and it made me realise that not all the well preserved antiques are for sale! I was also pleasantly surprised by the comparative youth and modernity, not only of some of the items displayed, but also among those in attendance.
The great glass barrel-vaulted roof of Olympia provided great lighting conditions, particularly in the evening sunshine after an earlier deluge.
Beauty fading into the background.
The splashes of red were as irresistible to my camera as a red rag to a bull!
I think this Bette Davis lookalike had seen one fair too many.
Friday, June 24, 2011 at 8:07AM As a result of shooting the art collector's house (See: 'Last Saturday in the Times'), I was asked by the organisers at Olympia to shoot this important event in the arts and antiques calendar. I was impressed by the huge range on offer, in every style from 17th century Jacobean through to 20th century Modernism. And art which included work by Picasso and Matisse. Here are just a few of my favourite stands.
